What to Look for When Hiring a Sleep Consultant

Here’s the thing: I might not be the right sleep coach for you.

Working with a sleep consultant can be a really personal experience. You’re trusting someone to give you advice on what you love most: your child(ren)! It’s important you feel comfortable with this person—-if you don't it might be tough to see your sleep plan through to the finish line.

Most consultants do a short introductory/discovery call so you can tell them a little about what’s going on and learn about their services. You can use this call to get to know them a bit and determine whether they’re the right fit for your family.

Here are some things you might want to find out during your call:

Are they certified? In which method(s)?

Do their method(s) suit your parenting style?

Do they have a wait list (and does that matter to you)?

If you wish to keep night feedings, will they support that?

What sorts of packages do they offer? (Though most will have this info on their website.) Which of their packages do they think is right for your situation?

And the most important factor: your gut! How are you feeling during this conversation? Have you connected? Are they supportive and knowledgeble in the way you'd hoped?

There are times during this process when your coach might need to give you a real boost or a lot of reassurance. What motivates you? Are you the type who needs tough love or supportive encouragement? Which do you think you’ll get from this person? Don’t be afraid to ask them if you’re unsure.

Last but not least, creep their social media and/or website for a bit before you make contact. That way, you’ll already have a feel for who they are before you hop on the phone.

Most importantly, don't be afraid to ask questions!

If you'd like to see whether we're a good fit, let's hop on a Discovery Call together.
